The time has come…. Girls Sectional Finals are Monday at Center Grove. The meet starts at 6:00 with pool doors opening to the public at 5:15. Please come and support our lady swimmers! Let’s cheer and clap so everyone knows Franklin is there to compete! We want to be the loudest and proudest!

If you were there for prelims, you are aware a queue started well before the opening of the doors. With Finals being on a school day I am not quite sure what the protocol will be at Center Grove for lining up spectators for purchasing tickets. Tickets can be purchased online as well as in cash at the ticket counter. I have sent an email to Center Grove athletic director asking for information about managing that queue on a school day. I will let you know what I hear via Team Pages.

This timeline is probably more informative to the parents than the athletes. I know that the girls will be in contact with Zach and Ty to find out about their exact schedule for Saturday and Monday. As information continues to come in, it will be sent out immediately. Thank you for you patience, understanding, and flexibility!

There will be some small breakfast items provided for girls on Saturday morning as well as a cooler of snacks to take on desk. Sectional Lunch as been moved to Monday during the girls’ lunch periods. Thank you to those parent who were will to change their plans and deliver food on Monday instead of Thursday!

Saturday, Feb 5:
7:00 am Doors open to participating schools, pool opens for diving warm ups
8:15 am DOORS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Mandatory dive scratch meeting; each school must be represented

9:00 am Diving begins (prelims, semi finals, finals) 10 minute break after prelims and semi finals
11:30 am Spectator area cleared after conclusion of diving
11:30 am Pool opens for swimming warm up
12:00 pm Mandatory scratch meeting; each school must be represented
12:15 pm DOORS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
1:00 pm Swimming Prelims begin

Monday, Feb. 7:
4:30 Doors open to participating schools; warm-up for swimmers
5:15 pm DOORS OPEN TO PUBLIC
6:00 pm Swimming Finals Begin

Zach did mention that Monday could possibly be a long evening with competition still going after 9:00 pm. We will have some snacks in a cooler for the girls to take on deck as well as some things to eat for the boys in the stands. I just wanted to make you aware so that you are able to prepare for a potentially longer meet than normal on a “school night”.

Please read parents of female and male athletes:

So….if you have been listening to the weather reports, you will have certainly heard the mention of snow and ice hitting Indiana sometime around Girls Sectional Prelims. I know that some of the parents of girl athletes have signed up to donate and deliver food items for Thursday’s Sectional lunch. Since we can’t foresee the future, I am asking that you continue to plan to prepare and deliver those items until we hear otherwise from the school system. If we are unable to have the Sectional lunch on Thursday, it will be moved to Friday…same time and same place. Also note, the predicted weather for Thursday might also impact the service of the LAST hot breakfast of the season. Please plan to serve breakfast that morning unless we hear otherwise from FCS.

Parents of male athletes-
Please be aware that only female athletes will be riding the bus to Sectional Prelims and Finals. There will not be school transportation provided to Center Grove for the male athletes after their practice ends at 4:30. I would often suggest that the guys carpool to the meet, but the predicted weather may prevent this from happening. This email is just a heads up to think about how your son might be getting to the meet on Thursday if it is not delayed or cancelled.

Sectional week is HERE!!! Woohoo!!!! The girls have worked extremely hard and are ready to take on the tough competition in the pool! Good luck to all our swimmers/divers. This is going to be a fun and fantastic week. As a reminder, ALL female athletes will participate in the activities this week.

Monday, January 31
Girls will check out their Sectional posters, window clings, and pool decor! Our Spirit Committee has been hard at work to add a bit of pizzazz to the week’s events! Girls should,stop by the hospitality room for a chocolate treat that is “paws”itively delicious!

Tuesday, February 1
Girls are invited to a Sectional team dinner at the Lacy’’s house around 6:00pm or directly after practice. If you are signed up to donate food/drinks for this dinner, I will text you the address . This is a very exciting night outside the pool. It gives the athletes a chance to relax, eat, and spend time together as a team. All female swimmers, female divers, and coaches are invited to attend. Please encourage your child to carpool. If all goes according to plan, the girls will receive their sectional t-shirts.

Wednesday, February 2
Girls will stop by the storage room following practice and enjoy the traditional Sectional fruit cup.

Thursday, February 3
ALL girls will come to the storage room during their individual lunch period and enjoy a traditional Sectional lunch as a team. Baked potato bar, pasta salad, fruit, and sandwiches will be served. If you have signed up to donate food for this lunch, I will send you a personal text to tie up some loose ends about arrival, food drop-of, etc…. If you are dropping off food for this lunch, please feel free to stay if you would like!

Prelims Info:
No Subway is served for the girls.
Girls’ bus will depart directly after school. A small cooler of snacks for the deck will be provided for the athletes.
Doors open to the public at 4:30 according to info sent by Center Grove.
SECTIONAL PRELIMS START @5:30PM on Thursday.

Friday, February 4
Girls will wear sectional shirts to school.
Practice as normal per coaches.

Saturday, February 5
According to Center Grove Information: Doors open to the public at 8:15 am
Girls diving preliminaries begin @9:00am. Spectator area will close after diving prelims are over.
Swimming/Diving Sectional finals begin @1:00pm
