In light of the storm, but more importantly, the frigid air, Franklin Community Schools will be closing the building tomorrow to activities through at least 1pm.

There is an outside shot we can practice in the later PM, but it remains somewhat unlikely. The temps are expected to warm, in addition to allowing the clearing of roads, so we can hope. I will be in communication in regards to the practice, which would be only 2 hours if afforded the opportunity.

In light of the impending Ice Apocalypse (just exaggerating!), all athletes must be out of the building at 3pm.

FCHSSND will practice from 7-10am tomorrow, and will lift at 9pm. Please share the news, as FRST practices will also be affected.

Greetings Franklin Family,

After a tough, hard-fought meet, I felt it was important to drop a few lines on our team and the upcoming week as we prepare to enter the holiday season.

ON YESTERDAY’s MEET:
Yesterday, I was immensely proud of the way that our ladies prepared, warmed-up, and cheered for their teammates during a challenging 87-99 loss to county rival Center Grove. We were loud and very focused for a first meet of the season. There’s a great deal of work to do in developing throughout the season, but yesterday left me feeling confident that our ladies are up to the challenge. As parents, you too, can make the difference with words of encouragement and challenging your athlete to improve, especially during the holidays!

Center Grove is deep, well-coached, and brought some of their best stuff, out-pacing us as the meet wore on. Their depth, especially this early in the season, is very good and will be throughout the rest of this 2022-23 campaign. We coaches, will be challenging our depth in the coming month as it’s imperative that they grow… quickly! The goal is still the same, we aim to be the best, and we won’t be deterred by a loss.

THIS WEEK:
There are some changes this week to the practice times, such as Tuesday’s PM only practice (due to E-Learning Day), as well as a slight change on Black Friday. THE WEEK IN REVIEW
The First week of girls season went mostly without hiccups, though we’ve had a couple delays on the “physical front.” We’ve had roughly 24 in the water, 6 on the boards, which has been a welcomed sight, the majority with smiles on their faces.

Remember that there is NO PM PRACTICE TODAY, which I believe is slightly contrary to what was on the original calendar. I will be up at IUPUI for the meet this weekend. There is, however, practice tomorrow at normal time (7am – 10am).

Our goal this week was two fold….
For those ladies headed to the Carmel club meet this weekend, we did a great deal of preparation for that, while the others got acclimated with the schedule and the culture.

On Monday we met about expectations, while Wednesday we reviewed the difference between “Growth vs. Fixed” Mindsets. We won’t master this during the season, but bringing awareness to one’s mental approaches and using it with challenges will help us down the road. (in life and in the pool)

NEXT WEEK AT A GLANCE:

Practice times are a bit confusing above, with a shorter practice on Monday due to Halloween, as well as a footnote on the Friday practices as well.

As the boys are not technically in season, they will have the afternoon off. The ladies will have a shorter practice than normal on Friday, where we will only be doing some team-building activities. As an avid Franklin fan, I hope that we’ll be playing Whiteland at home that evening of the Sectional Championship.
